Sur les courtisanes, les madones et le pouvoir sacr\u00e9 du corps f\u00e9minin<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qui les peintres voyaient-ils lorsqu'ils peignaient Marie-Madeleine\u00a0? Une p\u00e9nitente anonyme de l'\u00c9vangile\u00a0? Ou ces femmes qui savaient d\u00e9shabiller un homme du regard, parler en vers et laisser les rois sans sommeil\u00a0? La Madone dont les l\u00e8vres exprimaient \u00e0 la fois le d\u00e9sir et la pri\u00e8re. Une femme de chair avant de devenir sainte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La courtisane fut la premi\u00e8re v\u00e9ritable muse de l'art europ\u00e9en. \u00c0 travers son visage et son corps, les artistes repr\u00e9sent\u00e8rent le paradoxe de la civilisation elle-m\u00eame \u2013 entre p\u00e9ch\u00e9 et salut, parfum et sueur, d\u00e9sir et r\u00e9demption. Marie-Madeleine \u00e9tait souvent repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 moiti\u00e9 nue, pleurant, priant \u2013 un \u00eatre suspendu entre sacralit\u00e9 et tentation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Son image est un m\u00e9lange de plusieurs femmes bibliques : la p\u00e9cheresse qui lava les pieds du Christ de ses larmes, l'ermite Marie d'\u00c9gypte, premier t\u00e9moin de la r\u00e9surrection. Mais les artistes de la Renaissance y ajout\u00e8rent quelque chose de plus : le charisme de la courtisane. Ils ne peignirent pas d'apr\u00e8s leur imagination. Ils peignirent d'apr\u00e8s nature. Et la vie, dans ce cas pr\u00e9cis, signifiait\u2026 grandi puttane<\/em> d'Italie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la Venise du XVIe si\u00e8cle, les courtisanes n'\u00e9taient pas seulement tol\u00e9r\u00e9es, elles \u00e9taient c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9es. grandi puttane<\/em> Elles repr\u00e9sentaient l'\u00e9lite\u00a0: des femmes instruites, pleines d'esprit et de prestance. Elles citaient le latin, d\u00e9battaient de philosophie et composaient des po\u00e8mes qui pouvaient \u00e9clipser leurs amants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'une des plus lumineuses fut Veronica Franco. Po\u00e8te, intellectuelle et amoureuse des rois. Une femme dont le lit, comme l'a \u00e9crit l'historien Eduard Fuchs, devint \u00ab un h\u00f4tel au carrefour de l'Europe \u00bb. Les artistes la peignirent, les diplomates la d\u00e9sir\u00e8rent, et elle r\u00e9pondit par des vers \u2013 percutants, sensuels, sublimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son histoire a \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9e \u00e0 l'\u00e9cran en Beaut\u00e9 dangereuse<\/em>, mais c'est dans les peintures de l'\u00e9poque que son esprit persiste v\u00e9ritablement \u2013 en tant que sainte, p\u00e9cheresse et souveraine.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Caravage connaissait le poids de la chair. Ses Madones et ses saintes avaient des seins apparents, des yeux fatigu\u00e9s, des membres sensuels. Il peignit la Vierge avec un vrai corps de femme, car il utilisa de vraies femmes comme mod\u00e8les. Phillida Melandroni, Lena Antonietti \u2013 courtisanes de Rome. Leurs corps, leurs visages, devinrent Madeleine, Judith, Catherine d'Alexandrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'\u00c9glise fut scandalis\u00e9e. Non seulement parce que leur r\u00e9putation \u00e9tait connue, mais aussi parce que le sacr\u00e9 \u00e9tait soudain devenu \u00e9rotique \u2013 et ind\u00e9niablement f\u00e9minin. Un sein au centre d'un retable n'\u00e9tait pas un symbole. C'\u00e9tait une r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Et cela terrifiait le clerg\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais c'est l\u00e0 la r\u00e9volution : la reconqu\u00eate du corps comme sacr\u00e9. Non par le d\u00e9ni, mais par la beaut\u00e9. Non par la honte, mais par la souverainet\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u00catre une femme dans l'art de la Renaissance, c'\u00e9tait toujours vivre entre d\u00e9sir et d\u00e9ni. Mais la courtisane a pli\u00e9 le r\u00e9cit \u00e0 sa volont\u00e9. Elle entrait dans les salons en \u00e9gale. Elle inspirait non seulement le d\u00e9sir, mais aussi l'h\u00e9ritage. Et elle choisissait ceux qui se souviendraient d'elle \u2013 \u00e0 travers la peinture \u00e0 l'huile et la po\u00e9sie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
