Avant que la mode ne devienne rapide et que les filtres ne remplacent la pr\u00e9sence, il y avait des femmes qui s'organisaient comme des \u0153uvres d'art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elles n'\u00e9taient pas des \u00e9pouses.
Elles n'\u00e9taient pas des prostitu\u00e9es.
Elles \u00e9taient des courtisanes \u2013 et tout ce qu\u2019elles portaient \u00e9tait une symbole chor\u00e9graphi\u00e9<\/strong> d'autonomie, d'intelligence et de capital \u00e9rotique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans l\u2019Italie du XVIe si\u00e8cle, et particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 Venise, o\u00f9 les fronti\u00e8res entre politique et plaisir \u00e9taient d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment brouill\u00e9es, la mode n\u2019\u00e9tait pas une expression de soi.
C'\u00e9tait s\u00e9duction par pr\u00e9cision<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La courtisane ne s'habillait pas pour plaire.
Elle s'est habill\u00e9e pour contr\u00f4ler le regard<\/strong> \u2013 et laisser une cicatrice durable dans la m\u00e9moire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I. Quand la soie \u00e9tait une loi \u2013 et une \u00e9chappatoire<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L'Italie de la Renaissance \u00e9tait obs\u00e9d\u00e9e par le contr\u00f4le des v\u00eatements f\u00e9minins. Les lois somptuaires dictaient les tissus, les couleurs, les broderies et la longueur des tra\u00eenes. Mais les courtisanes \u00e9taient fr\u00e9quentes. hors la loi<\/strong> - ou au-dessus<\/strong>, selon la personne qu'ils recevaient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 Venise, le d\u00e9cret somptuaire de 1533 limitait la tra\u00eene des femmes mari\u00e9es \u00e0 un braccio (environ 58 cm). Courtisanes\u00a0? Certaines marchaient avec une tra\u00eene. plus de deux m\u00e8tres de long<\/strong> \u2013 et personne n\u2019osait les arr\u00eater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Une courtisane de haut rang pouvait porter :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • damas broch\u00e9 d'or import\u00e9 de Constantinople,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • velours doubl\u00e9 de fourrure de Milan,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • et de la soie teinte en pourpre de Tyr \u2013 une teinte r\u00e9serv\u00e9e \u00e0 la cour imp\u00e9riale au cours des si\u00e8cles pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Document historique : Une courtisane nomm\u00e9e Angela del Moro a \u00e9t\u00e9 condamn\u00e9e \u00e0 une amende pour avoir port\u00e9 des manches \u00ab brod\u00e9es de fil d'argent et doubl\u00e9es de fourrure de lynx \u00bb, bien que l'amende ait \u00e9t\u00e9 rapidement annul\u00e9e apr\u00e8s l'intervention de son m\u00e9c\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    II. Chopines, perruques et le pouvoir de la taille artificielle<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Parlons chaussures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Les courtisanes v\u00e9nitiennes portaient chopines<\/strong> \u2014 des talons compens\u00e9s pouvant atteindre 50 cm de haut, les faisant litt\u00e9ralement dominer la plupart des hommes. Marcher avec eux exigeait gr\u00e2ce, \u00e9ducation et serviteurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Elles en poss\u00e9daient des dizaines de paires. Un inventaire de courtisanes datant de 1575 indique\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • 28 paires de chopines,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 12 chaussons brod\u00e9s,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 7 mules en cuir doubl\u00e9es d'hermine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Les cheveux \u00e9taient tout aussi strat\u00e9giques.
      Elles alternaient les perruques \u2013 poudr\u00e9es ou huil\u00e9es \u2013 selon les besoins de leurs clientes. Certaines parfumaient leurs cheveux de vinaigre de romarin ou d'ambre gris. D'autres les laissaient libres, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un chaos contr\u00f4l\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Et ils ont tout document\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Les registres survivants montrent que certaines courtisanes ont enregistr\u00e9 la tenue, les bijoux, le parfum et le ton \u00e9motionnel utilis\u00e9 avec chaque invit\u00e9, cr\u00e9ant ainsi une base de donn\u00e9es personnelle d'influence esth\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

      Les chopines, chaussures \u00e0 plateforme haute, sont devenues \u00e0 la mode \u00e0 Venise au XVIe si\u00e8cle. \u00c0 la fois pratiques et peu pratiques, elles permettaient de prot\u00e9ger les pieds de la personne qui les portait, perch\u00e9s en \u00e9quilibre pr\u00e9caire, de l'humidit\u00e9 et de la salet\u00e9 dans les ruelles perp\u00e9tuellement humides de la ville, et t\u00e9moignaient \u00e9galement de son statut social \u00e9lev\u00e9. On pensait autrefois que les chopines tr\u00e8s hautes, mesurant jusqu'\u00e0 50 centim\u00e8tres, \u00e9taient port\u00e9es par les courtisanes pour se faire remarquer. \u00c0 l'instar des bijoux co\u00fbteux et des robes de soie, les chopines \u00e9taient appr\u00e9ci\u00e9es aussi bien des femmes patriciennes que des courtisanes ais\u00e9es qui s'effor\u00e7aient d'imiter leur apparence en rev\u00eatant des parures co\u00fbteuses. De telles chaussures sophistiqu\u00e9es n'indiquent pas forc\u00e9ment que leur propri\u00e9taire \u00e9tait une courtisane, mais la femme chauss\u00e9e de chopines dans l'estampe \u00e9rotique \u00e0 rabats de Pietro Bertelli repr\u00e9sente sans conteste cette cat\u00e9gorie sociale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      III. Le bijou comme langage (et registre)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Les bijoux de la courtisane n'\u00e9taient jamais simplement beaux. parl\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Un seul collier peut signaler :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • qu'elle \u00e9tait sous la protection d'un s\u00e9nateur,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • que sa loyaut\u00e9 s\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9plac\u00e9e vers un diplomate \u00e9tranger,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • ou qu'elle se souvenait de la trahison d'un ancien amant \u2013 et voulait qu'il le sache.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Les perles \u00e9taient les pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9es \u2013 symbolisant \u00e0 la fois la chastet\u00e9 (ironiquement) et la s\u00e9duction.
        Des bagues ont \u00e9t\u00e9 port\u00e9es \u00e0 des doigts inattendus. Des croix sont apparues l\u00e0 o\u00f9 elles ne devaient pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Veronica Franco aurait port\u00e9 une broche en forme de serpent orn\u00e9e de pierres pr\u00e9cieuses, fix\u00e9e directement sous la clavicule, qui lui aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 offerte par un amiral v\u00e9nitien. Elle ne la portait que lors de ses rencontres avec des \u00e9missaires fran\u00e7ais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Elle ne portait pas de bijoux.
        Elle a jou\u00e9 \u00e9checs<\/strong> avec \u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        IV. Habiller le mythe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Les courtisanes ne s'habillaient pas par vanit\u00e9. Elles s'habillaient pour immortalit\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Chaque jour \u00e9tait une performance :
        \u2013 La robe de velours bleu lors de la r\u00e9ception d\u2019un nouveau po\u00e8te.
        \u2013 Les gants parfum\u00e9s de Florence pour un l\u00e9gat papal.
        \u2013 Un mouchoir tomb\u00e9 juste assez visiblement pour commencer une histoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Leur mode n\u2019\u00e9tait pas d\u00e9corative \u2013 elle \u00e9tait th\u00e9\u00e2tre strat\u00e9gique<\/strong>.
        Ils ont con\u00e7u ce dont les hommes se souviendraient, ce que leurs rivaux envieraient et ce que la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ne pourrait pas vraiment censurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Dentelle complexe, poignets orn\u00e9s de bijoux, regard pos\u00e9 : le f\u00e9minin est \u00e0 la fois esth\u00e9tique et mortel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Conclusion : Elle \u00e9tait le message<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Tandis que les femmes nobles \u00e9taient habill\u00e9es par leurs familles, les courtisanes se sont habill\u00e9s<\/strong> \u2014 et le mythe qui les entoure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Elle savait quoi montrer, quoi cacher et combien de temps laisser quelqu'un s'interroger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Son corps n\u2019\u00e9tait pas destin\u00e9 \u00e0 la consommation.
        C'\u00e9tait pour interpr\u00e9tation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Et des si\u00e8cles plus tard, le monde de la mode emprunte encore \u00e0 sa silhouette, \u00e0 ses codes et \u00e0 sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 entrer dans une pi\u00e8ce et \u00e0 en changer le r\u00e9cit \u2013 sans jamais \u00e9lever la voix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Elle ne s\u2019est pas simplement habill\u00e9e.
